John Riady, B.A., MBA., JD. - Executive Dean of Business School, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences
John Riady received his Bachelor's in Political Science and Economics from Georgetown University; his MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania; and a Juris Doctor from Columbia University Law School. He is also a member of the NY Bar Association. Asides from teaching law at UPH, John is also Editor-at-large at Beritasatu Media Holdings; Chairman of the US-Indonesia Bilateral Committee at the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KIKAS-KADIN); Member of the Global Agenda Council of the World Economic Forum; Serves on the Columbia University Law School International Advisory Board; and is Commissioner of Liga Mahasiswa (LIMA), Indonesia's national collegiate athletics league.
Niel Nielson, Ph.D. - Acting Dean of Business School
Niel Nielson was born in Dallas, Texas, USA, and attended Wheaton College and Vanderbilt University (M.A., Ph.D., philosophy). Dr. Nielson has taught philosophy in university; traded derivative products and managed risk portfolios on Chicago and London financial exchanges; served as Managing Director of a Russian-American joint venture; worked in mergers and acquisitions with a Fortune 500 company,  and founded and served as CEO of an educational technology company.  Dr. Nielson has traveled and worked extensively in many countries. Dr. Nielson has also served as a church pastor, and for ten years as President of a Christian university.  He is a founding elder of Karawaci Presbyterian Church. Dr. Nielson currently serves on the Boards of Directors of more than one hundred publicly-traded U.S. investment funds; a global philanthropic foundation, and a Christian publishing company.  In Indonesia, he serves on the Boards of Commissioners of Siloam Hospitals, Matahari Department Stores, and Matahari Putra Prima. Dr. Nielson has been married for thirty-nine years to Kathleen, and they have three sons, two daughters-in-law, and four granddaughters.
Prof. Dr. Bintan R. Saragih, SH - Acting Dean of Faculty of Law
He was graduated with a bachelor degree in Law at one of the famous government universities in Indonesia, Universitas Indonesia. After then he earned his Doctor degree at Universitas Padjajaran. Currently, he serves as a Professor in Universitas Indonesia and being a member of PERSAHI (Persatuan Sarjana Hukum Indonesia).
Prof. Aleksius Jemadu, Ph.D. - Dean of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences
Dean of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Universitas Pelita Harapan joined UPH on January 1, 2009. He got his Bachelor's degree in International Relations from Gadjah Mada University in 1986 and then obtained his MA degree in Social Sciences from University of Indonesia in 1992. In i996 he got his Ph.D., degree from Department of Political Sciences, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL) Belgium. He was Research Fellow at Asia Research Institute (ARI, National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2004 and at the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies (currently Rajaratnam School of International Studies or RSIS), Singapore in 2005. He was also a visiting professor at Master Program in Cultures and Development Studies (CADES) Faculty of Social Sciences Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL) and the University of Antwerp Belgium November 2007.
Hendra Tjahyadi, S.T., M.T., Ph.D - Associate Dean of School of Information Science and Technology
Graduated as an electrical engineer from Maranatha Christian University-Bandung in 1993, he pursued master degree in Instrumentation and Control Program under Physics Engineering Department - ITB and graduated with cum laude predicate in 1996. With the scholarship from Australian Development Scholarships, he studied control engineering in Flinders University, Adelaide, Australia and graduated with the Ph.D degree in 2006. In 2009, with a scholarship from Australian government through Endeavour Award scheme he went back to Flinders University as a postdoctoral researcher. Besides his interest in control engineering field, his involvement in university governance attracted his interest to learn more about university management which brought him to be a United Board Freeman Fellow 2012-2013 sponsored by Freeman Foundation. This fellowship enabled him to have a leadership training at Baylor University, USA. He strongly believes that the best education is Christian Education, a kind of education that will bring the students to meet their creator, Jesus Christ, through any field of their study.
Dr. Martin Luqman Katoppo, S.T., M.T. - Acting Dean of School of Design

Martin was educated, trained and graduated as an architect at Universitas Kristen Indonesia (UKI) on the year of 1998, when Indonesia had its turmoil and entering the era of Reformation. The uncertainty at that time made Martin questioning the relevance of architecture and later becoming his obsession. In 2002 Martin obtained his master in architecture - specializing in history, theory and criticism at Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), whereas Martin also achieved his Doctoral degree in 2017 with a dissertation entitled ‘Design as Generator for Empowering Community’.  Martin then entered both architectural practice and academic institution, believing that both are necessary means for being an architect. In architectural practice, Martin and his wife mostly acknowledged for their Rumah Besi (steel house) – an experimental (sustainable) home that they created and became the finalist in IAI awards 2011 (highest national architectural competition held by Indonesian Architect Association). In academic institution, Martin became a lecturer in Interior Design Department, School of Design, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) since 2005 until now. Martin held the position of Head of Department of Interior Design from 2010-2013 and now served as Acting Dean for School of Design (SoD), UPH. As an academic Martin published scholarly article in both indexed International and National Journal. Propelled by his passion in architecture and his obsession of always pushing its limits, in 2013 Martin and other lecturers from SoD, UPH founded ‘DAG-Design as Generator’ (www.dagedubrag.org,www.facebook.com/dagedubrag,www.youtube.com/designasgenerator), where he explores the possibility of making design as a champion, a generator of change within community. as an organization with a vision of empowering people with an approach of participatory and collaborative design. DAG already had several projects, especially in urban kampong at Southern Tangerang ranging from making design interventions for domestic waste problems, greenery and creative space for children and up to remote area in Kalimantan. Martin carry out all of these with a belief that ‘design should become light for others’


Julia Tan, BFA – Executive Dean of School of Design

Julia Tan received her Diploma in Interior Design at Malaysian Institute of Arts. In 2000, she graduated with honors, with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design at Parsons School of Design in New York. Julia joined Janko Rasic Architects and in four years, she single-handedly managed all the interior projects for them in New York City.  A few of their clients were Credit Suisse, Westdeutsche Landesbank, Bank of Thailand,  the African Union, the English-Speaking Union and the Coca-Cola Company. The firm also restored and re-designed many of the older lobbies of New York City buildings. In 2004, she received her Interior Designer license from the National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) in New York. Julia later ran her own design firm for another four years and a retail jewelry business for ten years. She was active not only in Interior Design and Jewelry Design but also in Product Design, Exhibition Design, Visual Merchandising, Web Design and Textile Design. In 2010, Julia moved to Lippo Karawaci with her family and joint with Lippo Group. Since 2012 she volunteering her time to lecture at UPH's School of Design. She believes that a great designer brings a transformative solution and impact to the society. She hopes that she can bring the design community together and raise Indonesia's appreciation for this community through international accreditation and licensure.



Connie Rasilim, S.S, B.Ed, M.Pd. - Dean of the Faculty of Education and Faculty of Psychology

She has been involved in Yayasan Pendidikan Pelita Harapan for 21 years. She was a teacher at Sekolah Pelita Harapan since 1995 and significantly involved in establishing the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme in the Junior School as part of the pioneer team. In 2006 she was selected to be a co-founder of a pioneering team to set up UPH Teachers College, within the Faculty of Education. In April 2012, she was assigned as UPH Vice President for Academic Affairs (Provost), while also as the Dean of the Teachers College. After four years, she is currently focusing back on the Faculty of Education at large, including the Teachers College, which by God’s grace, by this June 2016 will have commissioned close to 1,300 teachers, spread throughout Indonesia over its ten years of operation. She earned her Master of Education degree from Universitas Pelita Harapan; Bachelor of Education from Tabor College, Adelaide, Australia; and Bachelor in the English Language and Literature from Universitas Methodist Indonesia, Medan. She is passionate about transformative education in a holistic, relational context and believes that the heart of true education is relationship – first with the triune God, then self and others. She is convinced that education is not merely about acquiring excellent knowledge and developing competent skills, but essentially it is finding our true identity in Jesus Christ. She believes that true education should bring people back to their Creator so that they can freely respond, according to His calling and use their God-given gifts and talents to impact the wider community, and ultimately bring glory to Him.


Eric Jobiliong, Ph.D. - Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology

Eric joined the Industrial Engineering Department Universitas Pelita Harapan in 2007, as lecturer in Physics and Math. He graduated from Physics department at Universitas Indonesia (UI) in 1996. He has served as the executive director of center for research and community development (CRCD) since 2013 and became the chairman of CRCD in 2017. In 1997, he obtained the University Research for Graduate Education (URGE) Project Scholarship for his master degree in Physics at UI and graduated with cum laude in 1999. In 2002, he started his doctoral program in Physics at Florida State University (FSU). He got postdoctoral fellowship at Georgetown University, USA in 2006. He also received Fulbright-DIKTI research program in 2011 to do research in USA. His research interest is in condensed matter Physics and laser spectroscopy. He has published more than 30 international journal papers with H-Index of 9 according to Scopus (July 2017). He has working experience both as teacher and employee in private industry, but he believes that his calling is in teaching. He also believes that teaching is not only transferring knowledge but also reaching out and transforming lives.

Matthew R. Malcolm, Ph.D. - Executive Dean of Faculty of Liberal Arts
Matthew Malcolm graduated with honours from the Australian College of Theology before gaining a Ph.D in New Testament from the University of Nottingham, UK. After working in theological education in Australia he joined the Faculty of Liberal Arts at UPH in 2016, becoming the Dean in 2017. At this time he was also completing an M.Ed at the University of Western Australia. Dr. Malcolm has published several books in the field of biblical interpretation, and continues to conduct research in the areas of biblical interpretation and liberal arts education. He sees the Faculty of Liberal Arts as providing a crucial educational foundation for UPH students, and he strives to enable students to fulfill their God-given potential in their lives and studies.
Prof. Dr. Dr. dr. Eka J Wahjoepramono SpBS. - Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences
Dean of the UPH Faculty of Medicine, joined the UPH in 2001 as a lecturer in Faculty of Medicine. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from University of Diponegoro, Semarang, Indonesia and continued to pursue his Neurosurgical Training degree at University of Padjajaran, Bandung, Indonesia. Chairman of Neuroscience Center Siloam Hospital, dr. Eka J. Wahjoepramono is also a member of many medical societies such as President of the Congress Annual Scientific Meeting of Indonesian Society of Neurological Surgeons (PIT PERSPEBSI) 2006 and President-elect of The Asian Oceanian International Congress On Skull Base Surgery, 2010-2012. His recent positions are Founder of Indonesia Brain Foundation and President-elect of World Academy of Neurological Surgeons, Founder of World Academy of Neurological Surgeons.
Prof. George Mathew MBBS, MS,MD, FCAMS - Executive Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, President Medical Science Group
Dr. George Mathew has earned his degrees from the Christian Medical College Vellore (undergraduate and postgraduate Medical training), undertook postdoctoral Fellowship training in upper GI and Laparoscopic Surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in South Australia. He continued his postdoctoral research at the University of Adelaide, South Australia; during which time he was awarded the Davis & Geck Prize for the best research paper. His focus of research was on the study of the behavior of malignant cells in the Laparoscopic environment and the role of peritoneal immunity for which he was awarded the Doctorate in Surgery. He was appointed as Professor of Surgery at Christian Medical School in 1997 and then held the position of Head and Professor GI Surgery at Christian Medical College. He held the position of Vice Dean of the Medical College from 1997 to 2001 and as Dean of the Medical College in charge of all Medical, Allied Health, and Research Courses. He was honoured with the Best Medical Administrator Award by MGR University for his services to Medical Education and Health Care Delivery. He was also honoured with the Mother of Teresa award for Excellence and the Eminent Medical Educationist Award. He chaired the undergraduate curriculum reform committee of the Medical Council of India. The main areas of his research interest are Molecular markers in early diagnosis of Gastrointestinal malignancies, marker for metatastic potential in malignant tumors, role of peritoneal immunity, use of virtual reality in medical training and the application of Robotics in Surgery. Dr. George Mathew joined UPH leaderships in October 2011 as the Executive Dean of UPH Faculty of Medicine. He is also the Executive Director of UPH Medical Sciences Group and the Executive Director of MRIN (Mochtar Riady Institute of Nanotechnology).
Antonius Priyanto, S.Ag., B.CM., M.Mus - Acting Dean of Conservatory of Music
Antonius Priyanto,B.CM., M.Mus received his Master of Music in Composition from University of The Philippines in 2011 with full scholarship from Universitas Pelita Harapan. During this period, he wrote his major work, ‘Vision of The Night’ (for Orchestra, Double Choirs and Soloists, and Live-Electronics), an opera based on the Book of Job. This one-act opera was premiered by Metro Manila Concert Orchestra under the baton of maestro Chino Toledo. He obtained the Bachelor in Church Music in 2005 under full-scholarship from the SAMBA-LIKHAAN: The Asian School of Worship and the Arts in Quezon City, Philippines, where he majored in both Voice and Choral Conducting. During this undergraduate study he wrote many Choral Compositions; mostly premiered by the Philippine Children’s Chorus and Vox Angelorum Choir (Jakarta), as well as his works were performed in several International Choral Competitions. Mr. Priyanto completed his Bachelor in Science of Religion from The Institute of Pastoral of Indonesia (IPI – Malang) with full scholarship. In the year 2005-6 he joined Sekolah Pelita Harapan (“SPH”, Lippo Village), as PYP and MYP music teacher. In 2006 he co-founded the Lippo Karawaci Community Choir & Orchestra and took the role as choir director until 2009. He currently teaches at Universitas Pelita Harapan’s Conservatory of Music since 2006. He views his vocation as composer, conductor and music educator as participation in God’s creative works of redemption. His highest joy is to see how the Lordship of Christ is manifested along the way in all his scientific and artistic endeavors.
Christine L. Sommers, MN, RN, CNE - Executive Dean of Faculty of Nursing
Christine Sommers joined UPH in August 2012 as a lecturer in Faculty of Nursing. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Cedarville University in 1989, her Master’s degree in Nursing from the University of Washington in 1992, and her postmaster’s certificate in nursing education from Washington State University in 2010. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D., in Nursing from the University of Kansas. She has over 20 years experience as an intensive care nurse and nurse educator. She is certified as a nurse educator and is a CCRN Emeritus. She has enjoyed having the opportunity to present seminars to nurses and other healthcare providers in several different countries and throughout Indonesia. Mrs. Christie is committed to serving Christ through excellence in teaching and mentoring others. She has a desire to make a difference wherever God places her to serve Him.
Dr. Yonathan Aditya - Associate Dean of Faculty of Psychology
Dr. Yonathan Aditya earned his doctoral degree in counseling psychology (major in clinical counseling) from De La Salle University, Manila. His counseling orientation is influenced by Choice Theory/Reality Therapy. Yonathan's research interests are in close relationships, positive psychology, and spirituality.
Dr. Diena Mutiara Lemy, A.Par, M.M. - Chief of School of Hospitality and Tourism
Diena Mutiara Lemy, has started her academic career with UPH since 1997 as the Deputy Head of Travel Industry Management. She then becomes the Head of Travel Industry Management Dept. from 2000 – 2004 and The Head of Hospitality Management Dept. from 2005 – June 2012. She received her Diploma IV from Sekolah Tinggi Pariwisata (STP) Bandung, majoring in Tourism Management. Her Master Degree is obtained from Pelita Harapan University, and in 2010 she obtained her Doctoral Degree from Trisakti University, majoring in Service Management. As a tourism and hospitality management lecturer, she is also active in several activities conducted by The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. Today she holds the position of Secretary General of The Association of Indonesia Tourism Higher Education (Hildiktipari – Himpunan Lembaga Pendidikan Tinggi Pariwisata Indonesia).
Thompson Susabda Ngoen S.Kom, M.Sc. - Executive Director of Center for Faculty Development
Thompson Susabda Ngoen earned his advanced diploma and bachelor degree both from the Universitas Bina Nusantara majoring in Information Systems and obtained his master degree in computer science from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). He just joined UPH after 25 years of experience in computer science education. His research interest is in computer algorithms.
Dr. Lusiana Idawati, S.T., M.M., M.T. - Chief of Institutional Quality Enhancement and Assurance (IQEA) and Quality Management Representative
Dr. Lusiana Idawati has earned degrees from the University of Indonesia (Dr. – Doctoral Degree in Philosophy and M.T. - Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, majoring in Construction Management), Atmajaya University, Jakarta (M.M. - Master’s Degree in Management, majoring in Financial Management) and Udayana University, Denpasar (S.T. - Bachelor in Architecture). She also took an intensive training in teaching English as a foreign language, sponsored by LBPP LIA, Jakarta, and taught at LBPP LIA Slipi from 2002-2004. She joined UPH in October 2003 as the Administration Director of the Faculty of Law and in 2004 became the Administration Director of the Faculty of Design and Planning. She was appointed Director of Academic Quality and Special Projects Unit in 2009 and Associate Provost in 2012. She also served as Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts 2012-2013. Her research interest is in the area of Aesthetics, Philosophy of Science and Research Methodology. In February 2015, she was appointed Chief of a newly established Institutional Quality Enhancement and Assurance (IQEA) reporting to the Rector and President in coordination with the Provost for the broad area of academic quality, compliance, and new programs development. With this position, she also serves as Quality Management Representative (QMR).
